Kaylan Dowdie’s hospital cost has increased to $41 million after spending 18 months at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) due to the ongoing need for medical treatment.
The mother of the beaten adolescent who battled for her life following an alleged attack at a party in November 2020, Veneshia Buckley, claims she is doing the best she can.
She confessed that things are challenging but insisted that she does not plan to ignore her obligations in regard to the hospital bill.
Buckley said she has struggled to breathe since her now 19-year-old daughter continues to require medical treatment. She is directly responsible for paying a cost neither she nor her daughter intended to incur.
Buckley claimed she is the one who is continually embarrassed because of the debt that she is unable to pay. She expressed displeasure with the case involving people alleged to have injured her kid.
Buckley acknowledged that she must choose her career more wisely if she is to be able to support her family, but she also expressed her gratitude to the government for covering some of the expenses.
On November 7, 2020, Kaylan, 17 at the time, is said to have been assaulted by five women while at an unlawful party.
