In connection with the alleged multi-million dollar heist of two Chinese nationals in Kingston, two personnel of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) have been detained.
The police officers are accused of aggravated robbery. The two police officers, who were both wearing plain clothing, reportedly visited the two Chinese nationals at their wholesale business on Tuesday, June 6, at 1:30 pm.
According to reports, the police officers displayed their identity and displayed a paper that they said was a warrant from the Constant Spring police authorizing a search of the home for illicit products.
The police officers were given permission to enter the commercial space.
One of the Chinese nationals was allegedly brought to the family’s residence on the complex’s upper floor, where a search was carried out.
In addition to an iPhone 14, the police allegedly discovered and confiscated J$8.5 million, US$40,000, and a metal file cabinet.
The Chinese citizen present told the authorities not to take the family’s money since it was used to pay for things that had been credited for business, objecting to the police taking the money and phone.
According to reports, the policemen assured him that the money would be restored and gave him directions to follow them to the police station.
But, just as the Chinese national was going to board his car and follow the cops, the police rushed away with the phone and the cash.
The smashed iPhone was subsequently located in the Queensbury neighborhood of Saint Andrew after being traced.
