Serbia countered on the other end and Mitrovic gets a header toward the goal but it doesn’t pose a danger to Cameroon.

5 mins: Cameroon 0-0 Serbia

A hot but windy day in Al Wakrah

It’s another hot day in Al Wakrah, and Serbian keeper Milinkovic-Savic will struggle in the first half with the unrelenting sunlight streaming into the stadium.
It is windy today, but despite Al Janoub Stadium being inspired by the sails of traditional Dhow boats, this breeze is unlikely to make its way inside.

Serbia looking better

So far, Serbia looks to be the better team as they move the ball around the field more confidently.

8 mins: Cameroon 0-0 Serbia

Mitrovic hits the post!

Mitrovic hits the post from a tight angle after some nice work on the right side inside the box.

Hongla is fouled by Kostic.
He goes off the field to get treatment.

13 mins: Cameroon 0-0 Serbia

Martin Hongla lost his shoe in a tackle…

And revealed that the Cameroon players are not wearing full-length socks but yellow tubing around their calves and plain old white ankle socks!
Quite the surprise there! What other secrets are they hiding from us?

Cameroon escape

Mitrovic fires are wide from close range.
Tadic’s cut-back reached the Fulham striker after a defensive mishap, but he fired wide under pressure.

16 mins: Cameroon 0-0 Serbia

Cameroon fails to do anything from the resulting corner.

19 mins: Cameroon 0-0 Serbia

Cameroon fans in good spirits despite the Serbian threat

It has been a bright start for Serbia, with Mitrovic hitting the post.
Still, the Cameroon fans cheer their team on with color, noise, and a whole load of panache. Based on their first game, they will keep going for the full 90 minutes.

Easy for Epassy

Tadic’s corner is too close to the Cameroon keeper, who has replaced Onana in the lineup today.

22 mins: Cameroon 0-0 Serbia

N’Koulou booked

N’Koulou becomes the first player to be booked for a challenge on Zivkovic.
Tadic takes the indirect free-kick. It goes to no man’s land.

25 mins: Cameroon 0-0 Serbia

A tough tackling game

No one is backing out of a challenge in this game.
There has only been one yellow card so far but expect a few more as the game progresses in this heat.

Castelletto goes down but is not hurt

The Cameroon player is not hurt but stays on when he was clearly not hurt. Perhaps he was trying to win something after Mitrovic made contact with him.

27 mins: Cameroon 0-0 Serbia

GOAL!

Castelletto scores for Cameroon from close range after a corner kick.
N’Koulou got the first touch for Cameroon before the ball went off a Serbian head and into the path of Castelletto, who tucked it home to give his team the lead.

Cameroon fans go wild after the opener

The fans deserved a goal. It may not have been the prettiest, but they won’t care.
Scenes of sheer joy erupt around the stadium among Cameroon fans who have been consistently cheering on their team for all 130 minutes of their team’s tournament so far.
Cameroon’s manager, Song, thumped the air in front of him with his fists after the goal – he enjoyed that.

Serbia will be frustrated

Cameroon is leading in a World Cup game for the first time since 2010 when they went up front against Denmark but ended up losing 2-1.

Serbia has had four shots but none on target.

35 mins: Cameroon 1-0 Serbia

Serbia cannot penetrate Cameroon’s defense

Tadic blazes over the bar from a good position inside the box. He was offside anyway.
Serbia has had more possession (56%), but they are struggling to penetrate the Cameroon defense.

38 mins: Cameroon 1-0 Serbia

Serbia will look to change tactics in the second half

Should Serbia lose today, they will be out of the World Cup.
They will have to change things at half-time should the score remain the same.

Kunde comes close

Kunde has been the driving force for Cameroon from midfield today.
He forces Vanja into a save and hits the rebound wide.
There will be six minutes of stoppage time.

44 mins: Cameroon 1-0 Serbia

GOAL!

Pavlovic scores with his head following a free-kick.
It was a neat delivery from Tadic. Pavlovic must get credit for a world-class header. Epassy had no chance of saving that.

45+2 mins: Cameroon 1-1 Serbia

Serbia find a way past the Indomitable Lions

Cameroon had been living up to their nickname as they stifled wave after wave of Serbian attacks.
But Serbia is back in this now after a fine-headed goal. Game on!

GOAL!

Milinkovic-Savic scores for Serbia.
He takes advantage of some haphazard Cameroon defending, firing in a shot that beats Epassy.
This time, the Cameroon goalkeeper could have done better.

45+3 mins: Cameroon 1-2 Serbia

Sing when you’re winning!

The Serbian fans are ecstatic as they put two quick-fire goals into the back of the Cameroon net.
Serbian chants ring out across the stadium. This game is very exciting for the neutral now.

Half-time

It was eventful. Cameroon looked on course to head into the break in the lead after Castelletto put them ahead in the 29th minute.
But two goals in stoppage time have put Serbia ahead.
Stay tuned for the second half!

Half-time score: Cameroon 1-2 Serbia

Best first-half of the tournament?

We have seen our fair share of second-half comebacks, but this first half could be the best of the World Cup so far.
It feels like we have been treated to a whole match squeezed into 45 minutes. The first 20 minutes may have been a bit cagey, but the match then exploded into a flurry of action with three goals.
More of this in the second half, please!

Entertaining 45′!

Serbia scores twice, with their first two shots on target in the World Cup.
While they dominated possession, Stojkovic’s players struggled to get going.
A late burst of energy led to them scoring via Pavlovic and Milinkovic-Savic.
Cameroon’s disastrous end to the half has now put them on course for a ninth consecutive World Cup defeat – but it best to not make any predictions for this match!

The second half is underway!

Cameroon kickoff.

46 mins: Cameroon 1-2 Serbia

No changes for either side

Both teams have started the second half with unchanged lineups.
A Serbia attack fizzles out as Kostic could not get on the end of the ball. Cameroon plays out from the back.

48 mins: Cameroon 1-2 Serbia

Coupon-Moting and Toko Ekambi have struggled

The men in the center of Cameroon’s attack have struggled in this game. Coach Song must look to introduce Aboubakar onto the field soon.

51 mins: Cameroon 1-2 Serbia

GOAL!

Serbia scored again!
It’s a first-class goal as Mitrovic tucks it in after patient build-up play.
Cameroon pays the price for giving the ball cheaply.

53 mins: Cameroon 1-3 Serbia

Serbia fans go wild!
That was a fine team goal from Serbia, and their fans are happy to see their main man up front, Mitrovic, grab his first goal of the tournament. He ran straight towards the Serbia bench to celebrate with his manager and his team.
Plenty of noise coming from the Serbia fans at Al Janoub Stadium.

Aboubakar introduced

Hongla makes way for Cameroon’s number 10.
Serbia introduce Stefan Mitrovic for Pavlovic.

56 mins: Cameroon 1-3 Serbia

Cameroon needs to act fast

If Cameroon is to mount a comeback, they need to score fast.
Aboubaker is a skilled player when it comes to this situation but he thrives on playing against teams that use the counter. Right now, Serbia will be comfortable defending in high numbers which work against the strengths of the veteran attacker.

59 mins: Cameroon 1-3 Serbia

Mitrovic now has as many international goals as Thierry Henry
The striker has been tearing up the Premier League this season and has now scored 51 international goals, the same as the likes of Thierry Henry, Asamoah Gyan, and Hakan Şükür.

GOAL!

Aboubakar chipped Vanja following a Cameroon break.
He did not even celebrate as he saw the ball going in, indicating he expected to be flagged for offside.
But the goal is awarded following a VAR check!

64 mins: Cameroon 2-3 Serbia

GOAL!

Aboubakar is again in the thick of things. He makes a terrific run while clearly on the side.
He tees in Choupo-Moting who has no problem slotting the ball home.
What a game!

66 mins: Cameroon 3-3 Serbia

Cameroon makes a double change
Kunde and Toko Ekambi are withdrawn.
On are Bassogog and Ondoua.

68 mins: Cameroon 3-3 Serbia

Aboubakar has made the difference
It was a master move by Song to introduce the veteran.
When he came on, Cameroon was 3-1 down and looked dead and buried.
Aboubakar beat the offside trap twice to score Cameroon’s second and provided the assist for the third to tie the game.

71 mins: Cameroon 3-3 Serbia

More shots on target for Cameroon
With 58% ball possession, Serbia has had more of the ball.
Both teams have had 11 shots at goal. Cameroon has had six on target, compared to Serbia’s three.

75 mins: Cameroon 3-3 Serbia

Serbia makes a triple change
Zivkovic, Milinkovic-Savic and Veljkovic are off. On are Grujic, Radonjic and Babic.

79 mins: Cameroon 3-3 Serbia

Cameroon look fresher
Having scored the last two goals, Cameroon looks more dangerous going ahead.
Song also makes a double change. Aguissa and Mbuemo are off, replaced by N’Koudou and Gouet.

82 mins: Cameroon 3-3 Serbia

The players have given everything
We are into the final 10 minutes now, and the players’ shirts are drenched in sweat.
The fans and the players have given everything today – this is the World Cup at its best!

A draw keeps both teams alive

Aboubakar fires in a shot but Vanja makes a straightforward save.
Should the game end in a draw, both teams’ qualification chances will stay alive.
But if the scoreline changes, the team that will concede will almost certainly be eliminated.

86 mins: Cameroon 3-3 Serbia

Mitrovic spurns golden chance
Tadic plays Mitrovic in a good position. The striker normally takes such chances but hits this one over and out of play.
There will be six minutes of second-half stoppage time.

89 mins: Cameroon 3-3 Serbia

Milenkovic gets a yellow
Milenkovic is booked for a late challenge on N’Koudou.
Serbia make a change as Kostic is replaced by Djuricic.

90+3 mins: Cameroon 3-3 Serbia

Full-time!

What an entertaining game it was.
Mitrovic’s 53rd-minute goal put Serbia 3-1 up and cruising to victory.
But the Indomitable Lions bounced back, scoring twice to level.
In the end, the 3-3 draw was a fair reflection of the thrilling game.

Final score: Cameroon 3-3 Serbia
