On East Queen Street in downtown Kingston, residents danced and revelled in the rain on Wednesday afternoon as the Category 4 hurricane neared the island.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness declared Jamaica a disaster area on Tuesday evening, citing Section 26 of the Disaster Risk Management Act. The declaration, effective for seven days, imposed a curfew from 6 AM to 6 PM on Wednesday, July 3. Despite these measures, some residents chose to defy the orders and enjoy the stormy weather.
