Breaking News: Haitian Nationals to Be Repatriated from Jamaica for Illegal Entry!

Haitian Nationals

Jamaica’s Passport, Immigration, and Citizenship Agency (PICA) are taking decisive action to address the recent arrival of 29 Haitian individuals by boat on July 10. The group, consisting of 24 men and five women, faced charges of illegal entry after they were assisted ashore on Boston Beach, Portland.

In a court hearing before the Portland Parish Court on Tuesday, the Haitian nationals were jointly fined, with each individual facing either a $7,000 fine or three days of hard labor. PICA is actively making arrangements to safely repatriate them to their home country, Haiti.

The Haitians’ journey was a challenging one, having spent approximately 14 days at sea, originating from Jeremie, Haiti. The timely intervention of concerned residents helped bring them to the attention of authorities.

As the situation unfolds, many are curious about the fate of the others who were part of the group but not included in the repatriation plan. The police have yet to disclose any details on their status.

Stay tuned for further updates as Jamaica and Haiti work together to address this complex immigration issue. Your support in sharing this news is vital in promoting awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by these individuals and the importance of legal immigration processes.
