Road traffic infractions in the Corporate Area will henceforth be brought before the traffic court on Saturdays and at night starting next week.

The Corporate Area Traffic Court’s Night Court and Saturday Court will hold hearings starting on Monday, December 5, according to a recent announcement from the Court Administration Division.

It states that the Night Court will take place from Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Additionally, Saturday Court sessions will be placed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

People with unpaid fines are asked to get in touch with the Corporate Area Traffic Court.

In Ocho Rios, St. Ann, yesterday, Justice Minister Delroy Chuck announced that the government will take down anyone who violates the traffic laws. He was speaking during a commissioning ceremony for Justices of the Peace.

According to him, there are almost one million unpaid traffic tickets.

The tickets, according to Chuck, are being compiled and will be available on the justice ministry’s website.

He issued a warning that offenders will be apprehended and prosecuted.

Additionally, he dismissed requests from public passenger vehicle drivers asking for an amnesty on unpaid traffic penalties during his presentation by saying the court, not the government, should decide this.

This is not an issue for the Prime Minister, the Minister of Justice, or the Government; it is a question for the courts. If you don’t pay for your tickets within 21 days, the court will become involved. If you want a payment schedule, speak with the judge, he said.
