The attacker who opened fire and murdered a man in New Kingston late on Friday has been named.

He is a businessman named Rohan Sharp, 56, who resides in Kingston 5.

Police said they are not excluding the possibility that the attack may have been a contract killing as they look into the issue further.

One investigator involved in the investigation stated, “We are investigating various leads. We cannot say too much since the case is at a delicate stage, but we are not ruling out the idea that it may have been a hit.”

According to reports, just a few minutes after 7 o’clock in the evening, two males on a motorcycle approached the victim as he was seated in a Nissan and shot him dead before swerving off and driving away.

Sharp was discovered shortly after the cops arrived, slumped over the wheel of his car.

After the shooting, a spectator said to a news reporter, “About seven shot mi hear and mi just tek weh miself.”

The gunshot incident was verified by the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) information division.
