In a disturbing incident in St Catherine, a local farmer is facing serious charges following an alleged early-morning rape after escorting a woman from a party. Authorities have charged Jerome Hert, a 31-year-old resident of Waterford, Guy’s Hill district, with rape and indecent assault following an incident on Sunday, May 5.
According to reports from the Spanish Town police, the incident unfolded around 2:03 am after a party. Hert was asked to accompany a female attendee home. However, while walking along the roadway, Hert allegedly lured the woman to a dark and secluded area where he reportedly assaulted her sexually.
The victim bravely reported the assault, leading to an investigation by the authorities. After thoroughly questioning investigators, officials officially charged Hert on Monday, July 15. Authorities are currently finalizing his court date, and he remains in custody as the legal process unfolds.
