Yesterday afternoon, an assailant brutally attacked two women with acid at the Pavilion Mall in Half-Way Tree. This shocking event has left the community in fear and disbelief.

According to eyewitnesses, a black motorcycle carrying two men entered the mall’s parking lot just after midday. The assailants headed to a store on the mall’s second floor.

“I watched them come in, and one of them was wearing a mask. Then, suddenly, I heard a scream,” reported one witness. Paramedics rushed the two seriously injured women to the hospital.

“They suffered severe burns. One of them appears to have lost half of her face due to the black acid thrown on them,” the eyewitness continued. TALKUPDITINGSDEM learned that a mall security guard fired a few shots at the attackers, but unfortunately, no one was apprehended.

Dennis Brooks, the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s chief media strategist, stated that the assailants were wearing yellow luminous vests. The women suffered burns on their backs and arms and were taken to Kingston Public Hospital.

Another witness, who works at the mall and knows one of the victims, was horrified by the brutal attack. “She’s a sweet little child; I can’t believe this happened to her. She’s always kind and makes people laugh. She never deserved this,” the witness lamented.

In a tragic turn of events, authorities later found a man, believed to be connected to the attackers, dead. They suspect someone killed him in retaliation for the acid attack.

The community is in shock, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. This incident highlights the urgent need for increased security measures in public places and stricter enforcement of laws to prevent such heinous crimes.
