A cab driver was fatally murdered on Thursday night in the Silverstone neighborhood of Greater Portmore.

A member of the police’s Corporate Communication Unit informed TalkUpDiTingdDem News that the murder occurred on Thursday at about 7 p.m. “The detectives are analyzing the scene therefore we have no additional details at this moment,” the official said.

This is the third homicide involving a taxi driver in Portmore since the beginning of the year, according to Egeton Newman, president of the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services.

In 2022, there were 57 killings that involved cab drivers on the entire island.
