Breaking news: A man said to be 23 years of age is now in hospital under heavy police guard, after becoming the main suspect in a related gun attack with a police officer at his home in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Saturday evening.
The identity of the man is said to be Michael Smith, aka Johnny, he is said to be from Fairfield Road, the area in Spanish Town, he is now facing multiple charges, like illegal possession of a firearm and shooting with intent to kill.
Based on reports we got from the Spanish town police is that the officer just got home at about 6:30 pm in the afternoon, and was in the process of getting a few things from the trunk of his car when he was surprised by the approach of two men, one had a semi-automatic rifle in his hand and the other had a Glock 40 pistol.
The men apparently hesitated at first but sadly still decided to open fire on the officer, because of the officer’s training he reacted quickly and returned fire.
After realizing they were no match for the officer, even tho the odds were in their favor, two to one plus the fact that they had a riffle, they still had to flee the scene.
later that evening one of the men who were involved in the shooting showed up at the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.
He has been treated and hospitalized and then hit with multiple charges.
