Motorcyclist detained after high-speed pursuit; cop was struck down on highway

After being struck by a motorcycle along the Mandela High Road in the neighborhood of Six Miles, Kingston, a police officer was taken to the hospital in a hurry.
According to reports, police were conducting an operation on the busy road on Sunday when they spotted a motorcyclist and motioned for him to halt, but he disobeyed.
According to reports, a squad of police officers chased after the bicycle before catching him.
The injured policeman was sent to the Spanish Town hospital for treatment at the same moment.
The cyclist was later detained and charged with risky driving, ignoring a police signal, driving away from a car without the owner’s permission, driving without insurance, having no driver’s license, and without wearing a helmet.
He is due in court on June 19, 2023.
