A security guard was shot and injured during a gunman attack on employees of the Berylium security firm on Saturday in Albion, St. Thomas.
With this event, there have now been five attacks on the firm in less than a year. Large quantities of money were stolen by thieves in a few of the events.
According to reports, in the most recent incident, two shooters driving two cars attacked security personnel working for the firm who were repairing an ATM machine at a petrol station.
A video of the event showed crooks fleeing the scene in nearby cars while brandishing powerful weapons.
Since then, local police have opened an investigation into the event and are looking for the culprits.
Three weeks ago, security guards employed by the same firm in St. Elizabeth were attacked.
Four weeks earlier, on March 19, armed robbers attacked and stole business security guards in Portmore, St. Catherine.
On one occasion, thieves stole more than $20 million.
In one instance in February, armed individuals attacked the security crew that was dispatched to JN Bank’s ATM at Portmore Pines Mall in St. Catherine. The Beryllium squad lost one member.
Three weeks later, only a few meters from the initial event, in the area of Scotiabank, armed individuals once more opened fire on security personnel who were depositing money. A team member sustained injuries.
Less than 11 months prior to that, there was another incident that was reportedly reported to have occurred in the Rollingon Town, East Kingston area.
In that incident, guards who were also affiliated with Berrylium were reportedly attacked by men driving a car while tending to the faulty Toyota Probox vehicle.
In the incident, more than 20 million were taken.
