Margarita Samuels, who runs a company in Hopewell, Hanover, has been named as the woman.
According to reports from the Jamaica Police Force’s Corporate Communications Unit, on May 7, 2023, at 4:02 pm, three men entered the place of business and detained Ms. Samuels at gunpoint.
The men fired shots at the businesswoman and three additional customers before fleeing in a waiting car.
While the other three people were taken to the hospital and admitted, Samuels was declared dead.
Although a motive for the killing has not been proven, the authorities believe it may have been a contract killing masquerading as a robbery.
For the men implicated, there is a search.
