Jamaican Westmoreland — Following the detention and arrest of two adolescent males on suspicion of aggravated robbery and illegal wounding in connection with crimes that took place in the parish on January 12 and 13, according to Westmoreland Police, they have increased safe-school interventions.

The social media video showing students from a well-known high school attacking another student served as the catalyst for the inquiry that resulted in the adolescents’ arrest.

In the video, three adolescent lads are seen arguing with a little kid, and one of them uses a machete to attack the boy all over his body.

Additionally, it is claimed that the youngster was defrauded of an unknown amount of money.

The teens involved in the video were expelled after it was released, and two of them were later detained and prosecuted.

This week, parents will be invited to a private meeting that the police and school administrators will also organize. Additionally, anti-gang lectures have been planned for classroom settings, and the Victim Support Unit is also offering support.

Our school resource officers, who offer direction and security, are often sent to different schools. But as a result of these events, we are now more involved in our schools. Our conversations with parents and school administrators are in addition to those with children, said Wayne Josephs, the Westmoreland Senior Superintendent.
