Watch: Golding promises to restore "government of honesty"

According to the party’s president, Mark Golding, if the People’s National Party (PNP) forms the next administration, one of its key goals will be to “bring governance of integrity back to Jamaica.”

The announcement was made during his remarks at the PNP’s Manchester town hall meeting on Thursday at Manchester High School in Mandeville. He also mentioned that the party is working to fill open positions with candidates in preparation for the upcoming general elections, which could be called at any time in the next three years or earlier.

The opposition leader stated before the announcement that the PNP would not be centered on public relations, gimmicks, or “denigrating its opponents.”

In contrast, actual problems that are impeding Jamaica’s growth and the “prosperity of our people,” according to Golding, will receive a lot of attention.

He mentioned education and criminality as some of these challenges.

In classic political fashion, Golding attacked the Andrew Holness Administration, highlighting the alleged extent of corruption, particularly at the Ministry of Education and a number of its pertinent entities or agencies.

Concerning party concerns, Golding asked people who do not have PNP standard bearers to be patient, as the party plans to have all of its candidates in place by next year.

He confirmed that the party’s candidates are being prioritized at the divisional level for the next Local Government Elections, which are scheduled for February 2023.

“We don’t know whether the government will hold a local government election. It is due, but they have the option of extending it again. We have no idea, “Golding stated.

“We have decided to move forward with identifying our constituency candidates given that we are in the third year of this Government since the previous election.” We must be prepared!

“So, South Manchester, we’ll be looking for someone.” “Central Manchester, too,” said the PNP president.

“We have expressions of interest from extremely brilliant individuals, some very respectable people, and people who will be very fine standard bearers for the People’s National Party,” he continued.
