Clarendon, Jamaica – A horrific crash on the Bustamante Highway claimed the lives of two students on Monday morning. The incident, which occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m., has left the community reeling and raises questions about road safety and enforcement practices.
Details of the Incident
According to preliminary investigations, the crash involved a silver Probox motor vehicle and a Subaru Impreza. The Probox reportedly collided with the Subaru east of the highway’s intersection with Foga Road. Witnesses at the scene reported a chaotic aftermath, with multiple injuries sustained by other passengers and passersby.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the Probox was being pursued by Transport Authority officers at the time of the crash. Eyewitness accounts indicate the chase may have contributed to the fatal outcome, sparking further concerns about the conduct of enforcement agencies.

Adding a dramatic twist to the tragedy, police revealed that the Probox driver fled the accident scene. In an apparent attempt to escape justice, the driver was intercepted at Norman Manley International Airport around 1:30 p.m., allegedly preparing to leave the island.
Authorities believe the driver intentionally planned their flight, which heightens the seriousness of the charges they face.
