Tragic Arson Attack in Portmore Villa, Gregory Park, St. Catherine: 15 Left Homeless

Tragic Arson Attack

In a heart-wrenching incident that took place on Sunday, over 15 individuals, including innocent women and children, have been left without shelter in Portmore Villa, Gregory Park, St. Catherine. The fire, believed to be the result of arson, has caused significant damage and upheaval in the community.

At approximately 5:30 am, the victims were rudely awakened by a group of armed men who forcefully entered their homes, stealing their cell phones before committing the heinous act. These hoodlums poured what seemed to be gasoline and set ablaze all eight bedrooms before making their escape. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, but the emotional toll on the affected families is immeasurable.

The authorities, including the Portmore Criminal Investigations Branch and fire department, swiftly responded to the emergency. As the investigation continues, it’s essential for the community to come together and assist law enforcement in identifying the culprits behind this callous act.

Superintendent of Police Hopton Nicholson, the acting divisional commander for the St Catherine South Division, has assured that the police will intensify their presence in the area. This collaboration with joint military operatives aims to create a safer environment and reduce criminal opportunities.
