Portmore Terrorists Attack Garbage Collectors
While on the job at Portmore, St. Catherine, two garbage collectors employed by the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) were shot in a daylight incident.
One garage collector was shot and treated for his wounds at the hospital after the event left him dead on the scene.
Coworkers have named the deceased Satish James.
According to reports, at about 10:40 am, two men were shot by gunmen who approached sanitation workers while they were gathering trash in the Portsmouth neighborhood.
The staff, who have always had a close relationship with the community’s inhabitants, are still in disbelief. The locals are concerned that this may jeopardize NSWMA services, though.
The executive director of NSWMA also denounced the murder of one of its employees and assured the public and other sanitation workers that this was not a recurring problem.
