attempted to smuggle contraband

After their attempts to bring drugs and other illegal things into the Black River Police Station lock-up on Saturday, two women have been charged with introducing contraband into a prison facility.

According to reports from the police, a special operation called “Crackdown” was carried out at the facility by their Black River counterparts. Food packages intended for prisoners were carefully inspected during the procedure.

The crates the women were delivering contained items like one cell phone, cigarettes, tobacco, ganja, lighters, and 3-inch concrete nails.

Maudlyn Nelson Forrester, 52, a teacher from St Mary’s district in Munro, St. Elizabeth, and Tracey-Ann Campbell, 41, a businesswoman from Crawltop area in Riversdale, St. Catherine, were subsequently detained and accused.
On Tuesday, both women are expected to appear in St. Elizabeth Parish Court.
Coleridge Minto, the interim superintendent and commanding officer for the parish of St. Elizabeth, is issuing a warning to those considering bringing illegal substances into the lockups, telling them that doing so will result in legal action being taken against them.
