Government Dedicated to Making Jamaica a republic

According to Prime Minister Andrew Holness, the government is dedicated to Jamaica becoming a republic rather than a constitutional monarchy.
The Prime Minister questioned the motivations of some who urged Jamaica to accept a new status as a Republic but who are now attempting to play political games, noting that the process was never meant to be simple.
Notwithstanding this, the Prime Minister declared that the Government will continue to be committed and take serious steps towards achieving its goal of becoming a Republic.
He declared, “Jamaica must become a republic; the process is not easy, but we have known it would not be. Nonetheless, we are making sure to check every box and moving forward quickly.”
Speaking at the East Central St. James Education Fund’s 25th Anniversary Fundraising Banquet in Montego Bay on Saturday, January 14, 2023, was Prime Minister Holness.
