On Michael Manley Boulevard in Kingston on Monday afternoon, a gunman shot and wounded another guy before engaging a passing police officer in a risky gunfight and fleeing the scene.
At about 1:05 pm, the event took place in the area of the Doncaster neighborhood.
According to police reports, a police officer driving a Coaster bus westbound along Michael Manley Boulevard noticed a man laying on the ground and another man firing at him.
After the officer got off the bus and identified himself, the shooter allegedly started shooting at him.
The officer apparently retaliated after being forced to take evasive measures. When the shooter apparently fired at the officer, the injured guy crawled towards the bus and the shooter ran towards some bushes close by.
The shooter got away.
The cops gave the injured guy assistance on his way to the hospital.
A trail of blood was left in the neighborhood by the suspect, who was apparently hurt during the incident.
The red shirt, which the police believe the attacker was wearing at the time of the attack, was subsequently found on a property by the police.
This suspect is being aggressively sought by the police.
