On Saturday, the final two matches of the 2022 World Cup quarterfinals in Qatar will be played, and Portugal will be aiming to terminate Morocco’s historic journey to the last eight.

After Cristiano Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner sat out Portugal’s 6-1 thumping of Switzerland in the round of 16, Portugal proved they could perform without him.

Goncalo Ramos, who took his place, recorded the first hat trick of the 2018 World Cup.

It’s unclear whether Ronaldo will be asked to accept a smaller role or be summoned back for the quarterfinal game.

Portugal coach Fernando Santos stated, “I will utilize what I feel is the proper plan like I have done my entire life.

Morocco, the World Cup’s surprise squad, stands in Portugal’s way.

Given the brilliance that has come from Portugal throughout the years, it may surprise you that they are only at this level three times, following 1966 and 2006.

Morocco, which joined Cameroon (1990), Senegal (2002), and Ghana as the only other African nations to go to the quarterfinals of soccer’s greatest competition, is venturing into unknown terrain (2010). They all fell short of the semifinals.

Two of the finest attackers in the world, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe, square off in the last of the four quarterfinal games.

Kane, the top scorer at the most recent World Cup, scored his first goal in England’s 3-0 victory over Senegal. But if he wants to catch up to Mbappe, who has five goals in the competition, he will have some catching up to do.

England has scored goals in a number of different ways. For the squad in Qatar thus far, eight different England players have scored goals.

As the leading scorer in the competition, Mbappé is largely regarded as the player who will replace Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as soccer’s brightest stars.
