The police have announced that a police officer was shot and died early on Sunday morning on Kingston’s Berwick Road.



District Constable Ricardo Jarrett, 30, of Kingston’s Darling Street Police Station, has been identified as the man in question.



According to the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the Jamaica Police Force, Jarrett was shot while reportedly dropping off a woman at around 3 a.m.



His handgun, according to the CCU, was also taken.

When Jarrett arrived at the hospital, doctors declared him dead.
