Shawn Reid, also known as “Romaine,” a jerk chicken vendor from Manchester’s Newport neighborhood, was detained and accused in connection with a robbery that occurred in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth, on Thursday, April 6.
Reid is accused of aggravated robbery, possessing a banned weapon, and employing a prohibited weapon in the commission of an offense.
According to Santa Cruz police reports, at around 7:55 in the morning, Reid and three other guys pulled up a man and stole his legal weapon.
The guys then made an attempt to steal a grocery store. When they stated their requests, though, they were not complied with.
Reid allegedly struck the complainant several times in the face after that.
Reid showed up at the hospital later that day with a gunshot wound.
Reid accidentally shot himself, which was found when the police arrived after being called.
After receiving care, he was given to the police.
At an identification parade on Thursday, April 27, Reid was positively identified, and a slew of criminal charges were then brought against him.
His court date is now being set.
