A phone thief claims that a cop is attempting to “sink di thief dem.”

A Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) officer is being sued by an 18-year-old man who claims that he was harassed and tried to “sink di thief dem” after being arrested for allegedly trying to steal a smartphone.

The guy, Kevon Russell, made the comments on Tuesday in front of Senior Parish Judge Lori-Ann Cole-Montaque at the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court.

He allegedly made an attempt to “swipe” the woman’s smartphone on Monday in Kingston’s downtown.

Russell remarked, “Mi cya believe a wah gwaan, you know a hunger mi hungry,” as soon as he was led to the dock to answer the accusation of simple theft. mi modda, terribly guilty.

Police beat him up after he was apprehended, he continued.

As an orphan who had resided at the Maxfield Park Children’s Home in St. Andrew, Russell claimed that he is now a resident in the Coronation Market and works as a “pushcart.”

The police sergeant who detained him demanded that he be prosecuted despite the fact that the woman whose phone he had taken had expressed no interest in taking him to court.

Russell added, “Him [the police officer] ever wah sink di thief dem,” drawing laughs from the audience.

The policeman said that he heard a lady running and yelling “thief,” which prompted him to act and pursue Russell as he was dodging the woman.

Russell was quickly taken into custody and charged.

On February 27, he must appear in court again for a sentence. He was remanded, and a fingerprint order was also obtained for him.
