One of the things Councillor Williams (People’s National Party, White Horses Division) indicated he will focus on during his term as mayor is a larger strategy to maintain order and free flow of traffic in Morant Bay.

“I’ve lived in a lot of different cities, so I know how well-organized a city should be. Because the town’s traffic was getting worse every day, I as the mayor could not ignore clamping “Williams remarked at the meeting on Thursday.

He claimed he didn’t understand why the law had not been implemented earlier, but now that he has the authority, he plans to set up a system.

Wayne Knox, the Morant Bay Fire Department’s acting superintendent, has praised the decision and stated that haphazardly parked cars have made it difficult for firefighters to do their duties properly.

Although we have faced difficulties responding to calls in places like Church Street and Jackass Hill, we have noticed changes, and we greatly appreciate them, said Knox.

He took advantage of the occasion to voice his worries on the First Heritage (FHC) Credit Union’s most recent relocation. The new location of FHC is in front of the fire station, and some customers’ cars are obstructing the road that the fire trucks use to leave the station.

In order to stop individuals from parking in front of the station, Knox said, “We have been placing cones. However, people have been moving the cones to park.”

It will be dealt with, according to Mayor Williams’ assurance.
