In a newly released video, Sean “Diddy” Combs is seen violently assaulting Cassie Ventura in a 2016 hotel incident. This harrowing footage, now central to a settled federal lawsuit, sheds light on a disturbing episode between the rapper and his then-girlfriend.
The video, obtained exclusively by CNN, reveals Combs grabbing, shoving, dragging, and kicking Ventura during a heated argument at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. The incident, captured on March 5, 2016, from multiple security cameras, confirms the shocking allegations in Ventura’s lawsuit.
Key moments captured on video:
- Initial Confrontation: Ventura exits a hotel room and heads toward the elevators. Combs, clad in a towel, follows her and forcibly grabs her by the neck, throwing her to the ground.
Repeated Assault: As Ventura lies on the floor, Combs kicks her twice. The video shows a chilling four-second pause between the kicks.
Continued Aggression: Combs drags Ventura by her sweater into a room before she slowly gets up. Ventura attempts to use a phone in the hallway, only for Combs to return and push her again.
- Escalation: Combs then throws an object at Ventura before an elevator door opens, and someone steps out, seemingly witnessing the incident.
Douglas H. Wigdor, Ventura’s attorney, remarked, “The heartbreaking video has only further confirmed Mr. Combs’s disturbing and predatory behaviour. Ms. Ventura’s courage in bringing this to light is commendable.”
Legal Background:
Ventura, known for her hit song “Me & U,” had an on-and-off relationship with Combs from 2007 to 2018. The lawsuit alleges that during a confrontation in March 2016, Combs, while intoxicated, punched Ventura, resulting in a black eye. The video corroborates her claims of abuse, presenting a stark picture of the violence she endured.
Despite the settlement, the video’s release has sparked public outrage and renewed scrutiny of Combs. Both Combs and the InterContinental Hotel’s management have been contacted for comments but have yet to respond. Combs has previously denied Ventura’s allegations.
